Cousins reunite after 50 years during Fleadh Cheoil

Cousins who hadn’t seen each other in half a century met during the Fleadh Cheoil in Mullingar.

Mary Kelly from Castlerea, County Roscommon, told the Westmeath Examiner that she was delighted to meet up with Nuala Grogan (née) Breen, who is originally from Patrick Street, Mullingar.

Mary’s father, Joseph Egan, also from Patrick Street, and Nuala’s mother were brother and sister.

Mary and her family lived in Dublin and came to Mullingar every year for a visit, she wrote in a note to the Examiner, but when Nuala’s parents passed away, Mary’s father and her family lost contact.

Nuala’s brother Sean lives in Australia.

Mary and Nuala had their reunion on Sunday August 6 last in Mullingar, during the fleadh, and had a great day together.
