Irish music and politics magazine Hot Press have announced that the special Sinéad O'Connor tribute issue is now on pre-sale.

The issue celebrates the life and legacy of Irish icon Sinéad O'Connor.

The tribute issue, which is set to be a separate, one-off publication by Hot Press, features moving contributions from many of her friends, family, fans, and fellow musicians – including Bob Geldof, Hozier, The Edge of U2, Denise Chaila, BP Fallon, Moya Brennan, John Reynolds, Julí Ní Mhaoileóin, Kathryn Ferguson, Gary Lightbody, David Holmes, Dot Allison, Shane MacGowan, Gavin Friday, Victoria Mary Clarke and more.

The striking photograph that features on the cover originally appeared in Hot Press Vol. 24 No. 10, published in June 2000. It was taken by Myles Claffey.

In addition to the guest contributions, the tribute issue will feature marvellous pictures, an archive piece from the late Hot Press great Bill Graham, and more reflections on the remarkable range of Sinéad's artistry.

Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said: "Sinead was one of the most important Irish artists of the past 50 years.

“She was a singer, songwriter and performer of transcendent ability and huge emotional range and depth.

"Her voice was an amazing instrument, capable of moving from a whisper to a banshee wail, traversing the full spectrum of where the human spirit can take us.

"Her music made an enormous impact, inspiring people and touching so many of them to the very core. Her extraordinary legacy demands that we mark it in an appropriate way.”

Henry Loughran's Bar & Lounge in Navan is set to host a Sinéad O'Connor tribute night tonight!

Artists Perlee, Elena Duff, Gillian Tuite, Lily Burke, Caroline Reel, Carl Finlay, Alun Smith of IF, Colette Clinton and Caitríona Madden are among the list of local musicians who will be performing Sinéad O'Connor's original songs and songs she covered "in memory, honour, and respect."

Sinéad O'Connor fan and organiser of the event, Suella Holland said her motivation from creating this event came from not only her love for Sinéad but also the absence of any tribute events in Meath.

Die-hard fan Suella Holland has admired the Irish icon from the very beginning of her music career.

She still owns Sinéad O'Connor's first CD and vinyl that she bought years ago.

All proceeds from the night will go towards the charity SOSAD - Save Our Sons And Daughters - which supports people with depression, thoughts of suicide and those bereaved by suicide.

The choice of which charitable organisation would receive the funds raised was carefully considered by Suella.

Sinéad and her son Shane both struggled with their mental health, and Sinéad struggled following Shane's death last year.

Additionally the "growing number of young people who have mental health problems in the country" made the choice of charity very clear to Suella.

The 'Singing for Sinéad' tribute night in Henry Loughran’s will begin at 7pm and tickets can be bought in advance on Eventbrite or at the door for €10.
