New cafe and gym proposed for landmark Mullingar building

Planning permission is being lodged for a new cafe and gym in one of Mullingar’s landmark buildings.

Balroe Enterprise’s planning application for the former Bank of Ireland building at 50 Pearse Street, includes details for a co-working space and offices, as well as a “marginal” extension on level two and the construction of a roof terrace/pergola.

Described on the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage’s website as a “robust and well-detailed Victorian bank building” that “has a commanding presence in the streetscape”, 50 Pearse Street has most recently been used as a restaurant.
