A bright day ahead with plenty of sunshine

Weather update from Met Éireann

Any lingering rain or drizzle in the east and southeast will soon clear to leave a bright day with plenty of sunshine. It will be largely dry with just a few isolated light showers possible. Highest temperatures ranging from 15 to 18 degrees in moderate northerly breezes.

Rather cold tonight with mostly clear skies and some patches of mist and fog as winds fall light. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees.

Wednesday will start bright in the east with sunshine, but cloudier conditions in the west will extend nationwide by late morning. Rain will then develop in the west and northwest before lunchtime, gradually extending eastwards across the country during the afternoon and evening - but holding dry in the southeast until after dark. Turning breezy with fresh and gusty southerly winds, increasing strong on Atlantic coasts. Top temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, mildest in the south of the country.

Outbreaks of rain will become confined to the east and south of the country on Wednesday night with drier and clearer weather developing elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in fresh southwest winds, veering westerly.

Rain looks set to clear from the east and south quickly on Thursday to leave a largely dry day with hazy sunshine. However, rain may linger in some southeastern parts. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in a moderate westerly breeze.

Much of the country will be dry on Thursday night, but outbreaks of rain may push in across some southern and eastern counties at times. Lowest temperatures ranging from 6 to 12 degrees, coolest in the north and mildest in the southeast of the country.

There is a good deal of uncertainty in the forecast for Friday. Current indications suggest it will be rather cloudy in the east and south with rain at times. Largely dry across the west and north of the country with some sunny spells and the odd shower. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in moderate northeast winds.

Early indications suggest Saturday will bring a mix of sunny spells and showers, these most frequent in the east. Sunday is likely to see showers or outbreaks of rain become more widespread over the country.
