Request for slipway on Lough Owel at Mullingar Sailing Club

A request that a slipway be provided into Lough Owel at the Mullingar Sailing Club was made at the September meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad by Cllr Aoife Davitt.

Cllr Davitt said that recently, as the Westmeath Sports Partnership ran a kayaking event there, participants found it difficult to launch from the shoreline as it is quite rocky.

“So it’s quite difficult for people to be able to access it,” she said.

In its response, the district stated that Westmeath County Council will explore suitable funding initiatives for the project.

Gleann Petit

At the same meeting, Cllr Davitt asked that the council place a ‘No through road’/ ‘cul de sac’ sign at the entrance to Gleann Pettit. To tat, she received an undertaking that the sign will be erected in the next four weeks.

Dalton Park

The need to have trees at Dalton Park was also raised by Cllr Davitt. “The area will be inspected and pruned after the bird nesting season,” Cllr Davitt was assured.
