Sunny spells, showers and a few thunderstorms

Today will be a day of sunny spells and widespread showers, some heavy with a few thunderstorms. It will continue very windy in many areas during the morning, with very strong southwest to west winds in the northwest, north and near the east coast.

Winds will gradually ease through the day, becoming light to moderate in the evening. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees, mildest in the southeast.

Showers will become mostly confined to western parts overnight with some continuing near the south coast too. Long clear spells elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with light to moderate southwest winds. Some mist and fog patches too.

Tomorrow will start largely dry with bright or sunny spells. Cloud will increase during the day with some showers developing, heavy and prolonged in parts of the north and northwest.

Highest temperatures of 12 or 15 degrees, mildest in the southeast. Light to moderate west to northwest winds will be a little fresher near the north coast.

Thursday night will be partly cloudy with well-scattered showers. However, showers will be frequent, blustery and occasionally heavy in northern and northwestern coastal areas. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees with a moderate west to northwest wind, stronger near coasts.

Friday will be quite breezy with good spells of sunshine. There will be scattered showers at first, mainly in the west and north, but most places will become dry as the day goes on. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in a moderate to fresh northwesterly breeze decreasing light in the evening.

Light variable winds on Friday night and it will be dry with clear spells. Some mist and fog patches will form too. Quite chilly as temperatures fall to between 4 and 7 degrees.

Saturday will start largely dry but a spell of rain will sweep across the country during the late morning and afternoon accompanied by blustery south to southeast winds, strong or very strong around coasts. Highs of 14 to 17 degrees.

The rain will clear Saturday evening with further rain following for Sunday which will be heavy at times accompanied by blustery southerly winds. The rain followed by showers again later.

Humid and quite warm on Sunday with highs of 17 to 19 degrees.

Mild, windy and showery on Monday with sunny spells too and highs of 16 to 19 degrees.
