Great turnout for Midlands Career Expo

The Midlands Career Expo 2023 attracted a fantastic turnout at Mullingar Park Hotel on Saturday, September 23. Organised by Mullingar Chamber of Commerce, the event ran from 9.30am to 4.30pm. In her opening address, Allyson English, president of Mullingar Chamber, welcomed everyone, and stressed that there were “plenty of jobs to be filled”.

More than 45 exhibitors attended, representing institutions of further education, recruiters and coaches, as well as companies based in Westmeath, Longford and the wider midlands. The event featured inspiring talks on a range of topics from speakers that included Bressie and Ireland’s first astronaut, Dr Norah Patten. Branding and social media advice was available from Stomp Media.

Among the exhibitors were BMW, Mergon, Home Instead, Decotek, Force Recruitment, TEG, ORS, Revive Active, Center Parcs, Annebrook Hotel, Engenuity, Employability Midlands, James Dean Coaching, Integra LifeSciences, Atim Cluster, Longford Westmeath Education and Training Board, Supermac’s, CoderDojo, Midland Steel, Stomp Media, Buckley’s SuperValu, Gateway Community Care, Stephens Cooke, Ericsson, Ecolab, Noel Group, Trend Technologies, Maynooth University, Allpro Recruitment, RBK, Idaso, FDC Group, Midland Jobs, Ardonagh, Steripack, Ardonagh, FDC Group, Reach Active, INET, Writech, North Midlands Credit Union, NUA Healthcare, C&D Foods and the HSE.

Allyson told the Westmeath Examiner that 700 job-hunters had registered in advance even more were expected “through footfall” on the day. “There’s plenty of vacancies here and they’re from every walk of life… there’s some real big names here as well, some real big-hitters. But as well as that, we’ve got some of the smaller guys here too, which is great because they’ve all got jobs and that’s what we’re here for,” added Allyson.
