Off-duty Garda injured in public order incident at Heuston Station

An off-duty Garda was injured in a public order incident in Dublin on Monday evening.

The incident took place at Heuston Station, when the male Garda, aged in his 20s, was on his way to work at approximately 6pm.

The Garda engaged with a man who was involved in disorderly conduct and was subsequently injured in the course of the incident.

He was take to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí confirmed welfare services have been put in place for the injured Garda.

A man aged in his 40s was arrested following the incident and has since been charged.

He is due to appear before the Criminal Court of Justice on Tuesday.
