The Midlands Branch of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind is holding an information event on Saturday, October 7 from 10am - 6pm in the foyer of the Golden Island Shopping Centre where you can find out about making a real impact in someone's life by becoming a puppy raiser. The charity has an urgent need for puppy raisers across the country.

By joining our community of puppy raisers, you can get the whole family involved and know that you are #ChangingLives by playing an essential role in the training of our pups.

Puppy raising has its challenges and takes a lot of energy and commitment; however, the reward of seeing a pup develop in your home cannot be quantified.

The satisfaction that you have had a pivotal role in providing guide and asssistance dogs that enable people with a vision impairment or families of a child with autism to enjoy the same freedom and independence as everyone else.

The opportunity to learn new dog training skills from our Puppy Raising Supervisors.

If you're interested, please join one of our information webinars or get in touch with Pups@GuideDogs.ie.

This is a full-time volunteering role. Living in a volunteer’s home is crucial to the development of the puppy. Experience with obedience training dogs would be an advantage.

You will have a designated Puppy Raising Supervisor who will provide you with the training and support necessary to educate your puppy.

Your goal is to raise your puppy to become well-mannered and socialised. The training you give your puppy is an essential foundation for their future success.
