Teagasc forestry information meeting in Mullingar

The new Afforestation Scheme 2023-2027 is the focus of a Teagasc information meeting in the Teagasc Office, Bellview, Mullingar, on Tuesday October 10 at 7.30pm.

The meeting will provide the latest, up to date information on the recently opened Afforestation Scheme, which presents farmers with fantastic incentives to consider planting forestry and further drive their farm sustainability and climate action ambitions.

Features include:

• Increased Afforestation grants and annual premiums;

• Choice of 12 Forest Type options;

• Up to 20 years of annual premiums for farmers.

Teagasc, in association with DAFM, invite farmers and landowners and existing forest owners to attend the meeting, where topics discussed include benefits and opportunities for you and your farm, selecting a forest type that suits you and how forestry interacts with other agricultural schemes.

People will also have the opportunities to ask questions during an extensive question and answer session.

The new scheme brings increased afforestation grants and annual premiums and a wider range of planting schemes for native forests, commercial timber forests, agroforestry and community forests.

Meeting details: 7.30pm on Tuesday October 10 in the Teagasc Office, Bellview, Mullingar, N91 PK10.
