Mild and mainly dry weather for the days ahead

Weather update from Met Éireann

Mild or warm and mainly dry. Rain in the north at times. Those the the weather conditions for the coming days, according to the national weather forecaster.

Today will bring a fair amount of dry weather and some scattered showers for much of the country. Northern and western parts of Ulster will be wet with rain through the day, heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees with moderate to fresh southwest winds, easing in the evening.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle in Connacht and Ulster at first. Towards midnight, more persistent rain will develop in the west and spread eastwards to most areas overnight. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with light to moderate south to southwest winds, fresher near coasts.

Thursday morning will be wet with rain in all areas, heavy at times, especially in the west. In the afternoon, rain will become lighter and patchier, but it will continue mostly cloudy. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with fresh southerly winds, easing somewhat in the evening.

Thursday night will continue damp and breezy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle continuing and becoming confined to Connacht and Ulster overnight, Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with moderate southerly breezes, fresh and gusty near coasts.

Friday will be mild, damp and mostly cloudy to begin with patchy rain and drizzle. It will gradually brighten up over Munster and Leinster with some sunny breaks. Connacht and Ulster will continue mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees with moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong at times near Atlantic coasts.

Friday night is expected mainly dry with clear spells further south. Rain and drizzle will linger near Connacht and Ulster coasts. Mild with lowest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.

Saturday again will be mainly dry with bright or sunny spells. It will be very mild for the time of year with highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees and light to moderate southerly breezes.

Sunday will continue mild and mainly dry with bright or sunny spells, the best of these in Leinster and Munster. It will be cloudier in the northwest with a little rain or drizzle, mainly in coastal areas. It will continue very mild with highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees and light southerly winds.

Monday looks like continuing mainly dry, though there may be some rain or drizzle in the northwest. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees and light variable breezes.

Current indications suggest that on Tuesday, rain will move southeastwards over Ireland with showers following on Wednesday and with temperatures falling back to between about 11 and 15 degrees.
