Milltownpass Tidy Towns win three awards today!

The volunteers from Milltownpass Tidy Towns are delighted with their success in this year’s national Tidy Towns competition.

They have won three awards:

1. National winner, Water and Communities Award

2. Regional winner, Midlands and East Region - Water and Communities Award

3. County Westmeath Endeavour Award.

Aoife Lynskey, on behalf of the committee, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with our results in this year’s Tidy Towns competition. In particular it’s an honour to have been crowned overall winners of the Water and Communities award for 2023, our first ever national Tidy Towns award.

“And to win the county endeavour award is just fantastic too.

“This is a testament to the hard work of our committee, volunteers and supporters and we plan to keep the momentum going over the coming years.”

Cathal Flood, the community water officer for Offaly, Laois and Westmeath with the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO), offered his congratulations. He wrote on Twitter: “I couldn’t be happier for the Tidy Towns champions in Westmeath, the midlands and east, and all Ireland – Milltownpass Tidy Towns. A dynamic, hard working, and inspiring group trying to improve their local Milltown river. Hon the pass!”
