Pedestrian dies after being hit by lorry in Dublin

A man has died after being hit by a lorry in north Dublin.

The incident happened at Kilshane Cross, Newtown at about 9.30pm on Wednesday.

The pedestrian, in his late 30s, was struck on the R135 at Kilshane Cross.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Dublin City Morgue.

Gardaí said the lorry driver did not need immediate medical treatment.

The scene remained cordoned off on Thursday to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí have appealed to witnesses to come forward.

They have urged any road users travelling in the Kilshane Cross area who have camera footage, including dash cam recordings, to make it available to the Garda.
