Man (30s) dies after minibus crashes into bridge in Limerick

A man has died following a single-vehicle collision in Co Limerick.

The collision occurred on the R463 at Athlunkard Bridge on the Corbally Road shortly before 3am on Sunday.

A man aged in his 30s, who was the driver and sole occupant of the minibus involved in the collision, died when the vehicle struck the bridge.

His body has since been taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The road remains closed with local diversions in place while a forensic examination of the scene takes place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses of the collision to come forward, particular road users with camera (including dash cam) footage from the area between 2.30am and 3.30am.
