There was a full house at Mullingar Golf Club for the Midlands Science Festival talk.

Mixing science and golf in Mullingar

A large crowd attended a unique event in Mullingar Golf Club exploring the science of golf as part of the Midlands Science Festival.

The event featured sports psychologist and keen golfer Dr Eoghan McNeill of TUS in conversation with science communicator Dr Barry Fitzgerald. Dr McNeill’s work focuses on how sports psychology can enhance your game of golf. Psychology and performance can be strongly linked as it’s all about bringing together concentration, focus and flow.

Participants said it had made think anew about the game of golf and how much it was a game of the mind as well as one of skill.

The Midlands Science Festival is supported by Science Foundation Ireland as part of national Science Week. Taking place on November 12-19, the theme for Science Week 2023 is ‘Human?’, which asks people to consider what it means to be human in today’s world, and how the decisions we make today will affect the people and world of the future.

All details can be found on midlandsscience.ie and everyone is encouraged to explore science and being human this November.
