Westmeath ladies appoint new football manager

Former Mayo ladies manager Frank Browne has been appointed as the Westmeath ladies senior football manager for 2024.

The announcement was made on Sunday and Westmeath LGFA confirmed that Browne was ratified at a meeting last week.

With experience in managing and coaching across hurling, camogie and ladies football, Browne brings a wealth of knowledge to the post.

He has had previous experience at LGFA intercounty level with Leitrim, Galway and Mayo.

It is understood that his backroom team will be finalised in the near future.

His appointment was rubber stamped at a Westmeath LGFA county board meeting during the week and Westmeath said they are looking forward to the Lidl National League and Intermediate Championship in 2024.

Browne replaces Roscommon's Michael Finneran, who served much of the last two years in the role.

Browne, a clubman of Ballyhaunis, is also a regular analyst on Midwest Radio Sport.

He was part of their commentary teams for some big games this year including Tooreen’s All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling final and Claremorris’ Connacht LGFA Junior Championship triumph.
