SA LÁR opens at Luan Gallery

Luan Gallery opened SA LÁR, a Westmeath Artists Awards group exhibition on Thursday November 30 featuring artworks by 30 artists living in or from Westmeath.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Luan Gallery and Westmeath Arts Office to celebrate, support and nurture the development of practising artists in the county and is supported by Arts Council funding.

Guest curator, Emer McGarry, director of the Model, Sligo, selected and curated the works in the exhibition.

The exhibition was officially opened by Cllr Louise Heavin, cathaoirleach of the Athlone Moate Municipal District

Congratulations to the overall winner of the Westmeath Artist’s Awards, Fiona Kelly.

Fiona holds a MA from Crawford College of Art and Design and is continuing her research into the contemporary narrative of land use as a PhD candidate at NCAD, Dublin (2021-2026).

Her work is housed in the public collections of the National Gallery of Ireland, the Crawford Art Gallery, and the Jyväskylä Art Museum, Finland.

Her current research within contemporary narrative of land use is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland (2021).
