Charlie’s ‘Movember’ effort benefited Arch Club

When Charlie Fearon volunteered to grow his moustaches for ‘Movember’, it was good news for a local voluntary group, The Arch Club. Via iDonate, Charlie hoped that sponsorship would raise €500 for club, of which he is a member, but, with the help of his brother James, he raised four times his target figure at almost €2000.

The Mullingar Arch Club is a volunteer-led social enterprise which provides a variety of vocational and recreational activities to adults with additional needs.

The leadership are delighted to currently have 112 members, the highest number since the inception of the club in May 2018.

“We provide a wide range of activities taking place over 16 hours per week in our premises in Columb Barracks, and we also provide support and information to families of persons with additional needs in Westmeath,” says club chair and activities manager, Claire Garry.

The club were also grateful to the organisers of the recent Clonkill Christmas Market: they allowed the club a free table at the market to enable them to raise funds for the members’ Christmas party.

“We raised €130 from the sale of goods handmade by our members. The committee then offered to match the money raised and we are putting that toward a meal in Mullingar Golf Club on December 21,” said Claire.
