Christmas Q&A: Ashley Ruane

Ashley Ruane is one of the most talented young ladies footballers in Westmeath. The Loughnavalley star was part of the side who performed with great promise in the All-Ireland Intermediate championship this year, reaching the quarter-final where they lost to a fine Clare side.

The talented midfielder will be hoping for a big season in 2024 as the team welcome a new manager in Frank Browne of Mayo.

What is your favourite Christmas film and song?

My favourite Christmas Movie and song is Nativity and Band Aid’s ‘Do they know it’s Christmas’.

Who cooks Christmas dinner in your house?

My mam cooks the Christmas dinner in our house.

What’s your favourite part?

My favourite part is definitely the ham.

Do you have any family Christmas traditions?

Every year we go to Mass on Christmas Eve and get a takeaway afterwards.

What’s your best Christmas memory?

My best Christmas memory is watching my Nan try to explain ‘Ryanair’ when playing 30 Seconds (a board game).

How do you spend Christmas afternoon?

Usually asleep on the couch.

Are you an organised Christmas shopper or a last minute Christmas Eve shopper?

I’m usually an organised Christmas shopper, but only in the last few years.

Are you planning on making a new year’s resolution?

I’m going to try and cut down on the amount of money I spend on coffee and sweet treats!
