Megan Dowdall, Westmeath and Clonkill camogie star.

Christmas Q&A: Megan Dowdall

Megan Dowdall is a rising star in camogie for both Clonkill and Westmeath. She was outstanding as Westmeath drew with Kerry in TEG Cusack Park in May, scoring an outstanding goal and then converting a 65-metre free with great composure to ensure the home side of a share of the spoils. A dual star, she plays ladies football for The Downs, who reached the senior football final this year.

What is your favourite Christmas film and song?

Has to be Home Alone 2 and my favourite song would be Fairytale of New York.

Who cooks Christmas dinner in your house?

It is mainly dad doing the Turkey and then both Mam and Dad doing the rest. We all help out making dessert and with doing the peeling and the dicing.

What’s your favourite part?

Enjoying the entire meal together as a family.

Do you have any family Christmas traditions?

We have a memory jar that we fill up and we take turns taking a note out or a memory and read them out after dinner and for new year.

What’s your best Christmas memory?

I think it was when Dad was overseas at the time but he was able to come back for the three weeks for Christmas to spend it with us.

How do you spend Christmas afternoon?

Playing games, heading over to our Nanny’s and then coming home and just relaxing.

Are you an organised shopper or a Christmas Eve one?

I’m a bit of both but that’s because I’m a devil! If I see something someone might like or I might like, I tend to grab it!

Are you planning on making a new year’s resolution?

Yes! But I think I’m gonna keep that one to myself for now, haha!
