‘Generous’ donations make Ballymore Seniors Christmas party a huge success

There were lots of generous donations towards making Ballymore’s Senior Citizens Christmas party a huge success at Christmas, organisers have said.

Chairperson of the Hospitality Committee Netta Murphy said 180 people turned up for the hoolie, including from as Tang and Drumraney.

“We have a hoedown out here earlier in the year to raise money for the Christmas seniors party,” she said.

“It didn’t come together easy – there was a lot of help in the background and it’s wonderful to see it all together.”

Lots of spot prizes were donated by the community and parishioners for a raffle on the day.

Entertainment was provided by the Sheerin family band, and by Fr Oliver Devine, who performed a lip sync to Elvis Presley.

The food was provided by David Smyth Catering.

“We’d like to thank David Smyth for the wonderful job he did,” said Ms Murphy.

“We want to thank him very much for his hospitality, he did a wonderful job in looking after everybody and the meal was absolutely gorgeous!”
