Anthony Cunningham announced as new St Brigid's manager

Experienced GAA manager Anthony Cunningham is returning to St Brigid's for his second spell in charge of the Kiltoom-based club.

It was announced yesterday that Jerome Stack was stepping down as St Brigid's manager after he came agonisingly close to securing an All Ireland title with the club last weekend.

This morning, St Brigid's confirmed that Cunningham would now be taking the reins.

"St Brigid's are delighted to announce that we have appointed Anthony Cunnigham as the new senior team manager," stated the club.

"We would like to wish Anthony and his management team of Eoin Mooney, James Martin and Niall Kelly the best of luck for the year ahead."

A former Galway hurling star, Cunningham (58) has previously managed the Galway senior hurlers and the Roscommon senior footballers.

He has also been involved in club management locally over the years, and in his previous spell as St Brigid's manager he guided its senior team to a first Connaught title in 2006.

He also managed Garrycastle to an All Ireland final appearance in 2012.

Cunningham's son, John, was part of this year's St Brigid's panel and came on as a sub midway through the second half of Sunday's 2-10 to 1-12 defeat to Glen of Derry.
