Derravaragh Music Association feature concert pianist, Hugh Tinney

The Derravaragh Music Association have announced details of their concert featuring international concert pianist, Hugh Tinney, on Saturday February 17 at Tullynally Castle.

Much loved by DMA audiences, Hugh returns to Tullynally with a programme of Schubert, Chopin, Debussy, Beethoven and Raymond Deane.

The pianist has made a major contribution to Irish concert life for more than 30 years, including multiple solo recital series, chamber music series, and frequent concerto appearances with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra and Ulster Orchestra.

In 2018, in recognition of his 60th birthday, Hugh fulfilled some key celebratory engagements – including a performance of Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with the RTÉ NSO under Jonas Alber to a sold-out National Concert Hall in Dublin. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Music by the National University of Ireland in 2007.

On the evening February 17, Hugh will play the following programme: Schubert Impromptus D.899 Nos 3 and 4; Beethoven Sonata in C, Op. 53 ‘Waldstein’; Debussy Images, Book 1; Raymond Deane Noctuary (2010-11): No. 10 Cereus; Chopin Nocturne in D flat, Op. 27 No. 2; Chopin Waltz in C sharp minor, Op. 64 No. 2; Chopin Scherzo in B flat minor, Op. 31.

Derravaragh Music Association encourage audiences to book as early as possible as the concert is expected to sell out quickly. A limited number of post concert suppers are available.

This concert starts at 7pm (doors open at 6.30pm). Tickets are €28 (half price U18s) and available at derravaraghmusic.ie or on Eventbrite.
