Gaelscoil An Choillín celebrates Pancake Tuesday

There were plenty of smiling faces and full bellies at Gaelscoil An Choillín this morning where Pancake Tuesday celebrations were in full swing.

Parents and teachers donned aprons and whipped up batch after batch of pancakes for hungry students.

It was a fun day for all involved, according to vice-principal Tríona Nolan.

“We’re just holding pancake Tuesday at the Gaelscoil for families and members of the local community.

“We have Mullingar Tidy Towns here, grandparents of some students, and other extended family members.

“Parents have come together to make pancakes and donate their time, as well as all of the food and toppings – it’s been a great success.”

Ms Nolan said it’s also a time of learning for students.

“While it is nice to have a day to get together to have a chat, to talk about pancake Tuesday – we also hope to bring in a conversation about Lent coming up,” she said.

“We have Ashe Wednesday tomorrow too, so we’re hoping to pop down with some of our classes to the church.

“It’s a great opportunity to talk about Lent, Easter and what it all means.”

Money raised from the Pancake Tuesday celebrations at Gaelscoil An Choillín will go towards new equipment for the school.
