Dull and misty start but some sunny spells later

Weather update from Met Éireann

Wet on Saturday with rain spreading across the country. Turning drier on Sunday and Monday.

That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

Dull and misty this morning with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, along with some hill and coastal fog. A drier start in the west and southwest. The rain will slowly clear to the east by early afternoon, followed by scattered showers and sunny spells. Staying cloudier in the southeast. Mild with highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in light southwest winds.

Tonight will start mainly dry with long clear spells and just a few showers. Turning cloudier overnight with more frequent showers spreading from the west. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees, coolest in the northeast, in light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresher in the southwest.

A cloudy start to Friday with scattered showers. Turning drier through the morning as showers become isolated and a few sunny spells break through. However, it will turn cloudier in the southwest once again towards evening with patchy drizzle developing. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds.

Cloud will thicken from the west on Friday night with patchy light rain and drizzle developing. Turning misty or foggy in places. More persistent rain will move into the southwest and west towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in light southerly winds, increasing moderate overnight.

A largely dry start in the east but rain will spread over the western half of the country on Saturday morning, extending eastwards to all areas in the afternoon. The rain will turn heavy in places. Quite breezy with moderate to fresh southerly winds. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Rain will clear to the east early in the night, followed by scattered showers and a few clear spells. Mist and fog patches will form as southwesterly winds ease light. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees.

A drier day on Sunday with well scattered showers. After a cloudy start, spells of sunshine will gradually develop. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds.

Monday is set to be another bright day with spells of sunshine and a few well scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

Further outlook: Current indications suggest that it will stay dry for a time on Tuesday but further spells of rain will develop from Tuesday night onwards.
