OT fitness expert Karl Henry has high praise for locals

Karl Henry, the Operation Transformation fitness expert, was his usual high energy self as he filmed the Ad Break Challenge with a group of local people on the Market Square, Mullingar on Friday evening.

He had time for everyone who wanted to chat and was happy to stand in for photos with locals. Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, he said he and his colleagues had received a great reception in the county.

“We’re here on the Market Square, 7 o’clock Friday evening, doing an Ad Break Challenge – what else would you be doing?!”

“Westmeath has been amazing, and Mullingar tonight has been super. Over the last seven weeks, the support we received… the numbers on the Ad Breaks… the enthusiasm… it’s what Operation Transformation is all about.

“We’re about communities, getting people together, and the local support we’ve had, particularly this year, has been amazing.

“Westmeath people have been a credit to themselves, the groups we’ve had, the size of the groups we’ve had. We’ve had the craic. It’s been great!” Evan McCormack, one of the coaches at Mullingar Harriers (along with Michael O’Sullivan, and Philip Burke and Joanna Tyrrell) led an OT training session for 25 members at the club earlier on Friday. “We were filmed with me leading them through the warm-up, stretches, and the session, similar to what we normally do,” said Evan. “Then this evening we were on the Market Square, doing the exercises for the Ad Break Challenge.

“Operation Transformation have used various groups throughout the county over the weeks, and Harriers were involved this week.”
