Tickets selling out fast as Ruaile Buaile return to Mullingar

Tickets for the eagerly awaited benefit night in aid of Toss Maher and the Maher family are currently on sale.

Ruaile Buaile will headline 'Leap of Faith', a wonderful night of music and song at Platform 5, Clarke's Bar, Mullingar, on leap day, Thursday February 29. It’s the first time the very talented and popular five-piece have played in Mullingar since their hugely successful gigs at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil last August when they entertained 1,500 people each night for four sell-out concerts.

Along with Ballinagore singer and guitarist Niall Kelly, there’s Cathal Guinan on fiddle, Sean Bourke on banjo, Jack Godley (percussion) and Shane Lynam (vocals and base).

From upbeat old Irish favourites to ground-thumping trad, and unique twists on recent day classics, Ruaile Buaile have been busy bringing rousing concerts around the country. Toss is music lover and a big fan of the group and organisers are delighted to have secured them for what is guaranteed to be a terrific evening's entertainment.

Many other local artists will perform, including DG and Dec, Luke Price and Ursula Maher and Greg Dunne (a member of popular Mullingar band Some One's Sons).

Those wishing to purchase tickets can do so through Con's Bar, Mullingar, or through Clarke's Bar, Mullingar.

Toss Maher is a familiar face around Mullingar, well-known in the local community where he has worked as a taxi driver for many years.

Sadly, Toss sustained life-changing injuries on January 7, leaving his wife Tina and their family devastated. Unfortunately, he has been hospitalised in Beaumont, Dublin since and the long-term prognosis is uncertain. Prior to this, he was a friendly, jovial, outgoing person whose witty personality endeared him to all.

A key part of the benefit night will be a major raffle with some amazing prizes, including a 50-inch television, sponsored by Cleary Electrical, Mullingar. People have also been making donations.

Committee member, Damien Maher, a first cousin of Toss, thanked all the businesses for their benevolence and acknowledged the great support of all in the community.

“There has been a terrific response and we want to acknowledge the local businesses who have been extremely generous. Thanks to everyone who has bought tickets and donated to the event. Their support is heartening and it shows what a great community we live in,” he said.

Tickets are subject to availability and cannot be purchased in large quantities. You can Contact Damien on 087 6506301.
