Coffee with a cause

Minister Peter Burke, TD, hosted a coffee morning in aid of the North Westmeath Hospice on Friday of last week, when his constituency office was transformed into a hub of community and conversation.

There was support from members of the public, local Fine Gael members, and from the local business community, as the aroma of fresh coffee and freshly baked scones and cake filled the air.

Despite the dreary weather, people were eager to support the cause, and between 10am and noon, there was a massive turnout and constant coming and going throughout the two hours.

Minister Burke said: “We all know the valuable work of the hospice and the real contribution and difference they make to people in their time of need. The personal stories of hospice helping in end-of-life situations are humbling, and I am full of respect for the hospice staff who go into homes and offer such a dignified service.

“What a gift to give a family – we are lucky to have a dedicated charity that plays such an important role in Westmeath.”

A charitable organisation founded in 1994, dedicated to providing voluntary specialist palliative care services to the people of Westmeath, the North Westmeath Hospice rely on donations from the public.

Last week’s coffee morning was more than just a fundraiser; it was an opportunity to rally the local community behind an important organisation.
