Westmeath's David Williams in action against Tipperary at the weekend.

Williams named as Hurler of the Week on Joe.ie

Westmeath hurler David Williams's haul of 2-12 against Tipperary at the weekend hasn't gone unnoticed in the national media.

In addition to earning rave reviews in the match reports from the game, Williams, who has made the transition from underage to senior inter-county look easy, has been named as the Hurler of the Week on Joe.ie.

He has also been named in the hurling team of the week on GAA.ie.

For the second successive league match, Williams and his team mates went toe to toe with one of the top teams in hurling right until the end of the match. While the result didn't go Westmeath's way, their performance should give them confidence for their final two league matches against Antrim and Dublin, as well as their Joe McDonagh Cup campaign.
