Case for extending footpaths at Rochfortbridge

A case for extending the footpaths on both sides of the Castlelost Road out of Rochfortbridge was made by Cllr Denis Leonard at the February meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

He asked for an update on the prospect of having the paths extended, and was informed by way of written response that there is a live planning application for a large school extension.

“As part of the planning application process, conditions will include footpath upgrades,” the response concluded.

“The GAA is out there, the cemetery: there is so much going on out that road,” said Cllr Leonard, as he pressed for further action.

“I think that road has to be examined – not just as far as the school is likely to go, but a bit further to really take in the cemetery and the GAA out there because it's an important area,” he stated.
