Women in Business 2024: Tracey Stewart (Bank of Ireland)

Tracey Stewart joined the Bank of Ireland Business Graduate Programme in September 1998, after graduating from the University of Ulster in Belfast with a degree in Applied Economics.

Tracey has held a number of positions in various areas at the bank, but her passion has always been looking after the financial well being of existing and new customers.

“I love being part of the milestones in people’s lives, whether it’s a farmer buying land, a young couple buying their first home, or the family ensuring they have put a plan in place to cover their kids’ education. I believe in what we do and the importance we play in people’s lives.”

Tracey’s commitment to her clients is clear, as she has had the opportunity to work within the internal structures of the bank, but “my desire has always been in the customer facing frontline area”.

She has worked mainly in the midlands and spend a number of years in Mullingar in the noughties.

She has worked for the last 15 years in Offaly and is now “excited and happy” to return to Mullingar. “I’m proud to work for Bank of Ireland and proud to be branch manager in a great town like this. I have many happy memories of my years in Mullingar and I’m delighted to back as manager of a fantastic branch with excellent staff.”

Tracey says the Bank of Ireland is embedded in the community here, and over her years in the profession, she has seen banking evolve to further reinforce that role. She has experience of working in the organisation through historical events such as Foot-and-mouth, the September 11 attacks in America, the economic boom to bust and the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I believe that at the centre of all those events was the customer,” said Tracey.

Tracey is originally from Dungannon, County Tyrone. She is married to Benny and they have four children. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and running. She is looking forward to participating in the Mullingar Half Marathon on St Patrick’s Day.
