Wilson’s YSI class work on ‘Comfort Over Crisis’

Loretto Carroll, divisional nurse manager, and Edel Shannon, Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, have visited Wilson’s Hospital School to engage with the students who participated in the 2023 Young Social Innovators programme.

These students collaboratively created a project called ‘Comfort Over Crisis’, and through that, raised awareness about the pressing national issue of insufficient hospital beds, and contributed towards enhancing the facilities at the Emergency Department in Mullingar hospital for individuals experiencing extended waiting times.

The efforts of the YSI class culminated in a total of €5047.34 raised, which is earmarked for improving the waiting room amenities at the hospital, thereby providing some relief to those affected by prolonged waiting periods.
