Age-friendly car parking spaces to be piloted

The installation of age-friendly car parking spaces is to begin in the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad on a pilot basis.

The revelation came at the March meeting, in a response provided to Cllr Emily Wallace, who had asked for an update on the identification and installation of age-friendly spaces in towns and villages in the district.

“The Municipal District will identify a number of locations for the installation of age friendly car parking spaces on a pilot basis for the district,” the written response stated.

Cllr Wallace said the development was welcome, adding that Westmeath has had an age-friendly programme since 2013.

She suggested that before deciding on spaces that the district get in touch with retirement groups and the age-friendly community.
