Mullingar man's work features in online Canadian exhibition

The work of a Mullingar man is to be included in a virtual exhibition in Canada, ‘The Gaels in the Too-Cold Land’, which traces the history of the Irish language in Canada since the arrival of the first speakers there 400 years ago.

Among the exhibits is the book ‘Anam Do-chloíte Québec’ (The Indomitable Soul of Québec) written in 1968 by Fionntán mac Aodha Bhuí, who was born in Mullingar in 1924, and was an architect and a writer.

In 1962, he visited Canada and the US, and arising out of his fascination with the evolution of Quebec, he wrote Anam Do-chloíte Québec.

Fionntán mac Aodh Bhuí passed away in Roscommon in 2012.

The virtual exhibition is at gaeilge.ca/irish-language-in-canada-intro.
