New Forest Golf Club in superb condition for Captains' Drive-In

Sunday last saw the Captains’ Drive In at New Forest Golf Club and a large crowd turned up to witness our four new captains arrive in great style.
They pulled up in two vintage cars, appropriately attired in 1950’s vintage apparel. Looking the part, Ciaran Leavy and Catherine Groome along with our juvenile captains, Eva Lownes and Ross Healion accepted the good wishes from all assembled before making for the first tee to complete their respective drives. All four found the middle of the fairway.
A four-person scramble followed the Captains’ Drive in. A full timesheet for this event reflected the popularity of our incoming captains and we wish Ciaran, Catherine, Eva and Ross a very successful and enjoyable year.
Despite the inclement weather we have had recently, our greenkeeper Donie Shine had the course looking in immaculate condition. The greens were superb. Many favourable comments were passed on the amount of work that was carried out over the winter months. Work on all the walkways, drains and bunkers have the course looking at its best.

New Forest Golf Club hosted a Golf Classic on behalf of Declan Rogers on Thursday and Friday last. Originally planned to be held on one day, the amount of people who wanted to support Declan, necessitated an extra day being added on. Everybody in the club would like to wish Declan every success in America with his treatment.
The winners over the two days were:
First - Liam Lynch, 84 pts.
Second - Padraig Gorman ( Headfort GC), 82 pts.
Third - Declan Farrell (Tullamore GC), 82 pts.
Fourth - Christine Egan, 79 pts.
