Public asked to 'walk or run' to support bereaved parents

National charity, Anam Cara, has asked members of the public who are taking part in any marathons this year to consider fundraising for them to continue the important work they do in supporting bereaved parents.

Now that the clocks have gone forward and the evenings are getting a little longer, many people will be setting themselves a target to take part in a 5km, 10km or even a full marathon.

On Sunday, June 2, over 40,000 women will take to the streets of Dublin, to take on the 10km route, in the Womens Mini Marathon. Each year, the Anam Cara team grows, and they would love for many more to join them on the day. Participanst can run, jog or walk at their own pace on the day and then meet up after for that feel good factor.

On the same day, the people of Cork will take to the streets for their marathon, half marathon and 10km.

Every cent raised by those taking part in the two events or any marathons across the country on behalf of Anam Cara will ensure that their support services for bereaved parents continue to thrive nationwide.

The next Midlands meeting of Anam Cara will take place in The Mullingar Park Hotel @ 7:15pm on Wednesday, April 10 next. All bereaved parents are welcome to attend, regardless of the age of the child or circumstances of death. Any bereaved parent in the Midlands area and surrounds are welcome to attend.
