Celebrating longevity at Mullingar Town Band 145th anniversary event

Mullingar Town Band hosted a memorable celebration evening on Friday March 22 at the Bandhall to mark their 145-year anniversary. The event brought together the community in a celebration of music and camaraderie.

Attendees were treated to performances by the three senior band ensembles: the Marching Band, Concert Band, and Blasta Brass, who delivered a short and casual recital.

The evening was made even more special by the presence of numerous band supporters, band families, and former members, all of whom added to the atmosphere and demonstrated their support for Mullingar Town Band.

The band extend heartfelt gratitude to the local food, wine, bakery, and hospitality businesses whose support contributed to the success of the event and helped mark the 145th celebrations in style.

On the night, the band campaigned their ongoing fundraiser ‘Wall of Fame’ with a special focus to create awareness during the month of March (Single name for €40; Family name, €60; Business name €100). The ‘Wall of Fame’ on the main entrance wall at the Bandhall displays the signatures of those who have supported the fundraiser. In addition to commemorating the historic milestone, the evening also honoured the 40th birthday of band director Kim Magee, who marked 10 years at the helm.

Mullingar Town Band have their first trip abroad in seven years in June, when 55 members travel to compete in the WMC competition in Rastede, north Germany. Both the Marching and Concert Band will represent Mullingar band on an international stage.

As Mullingar Town Band look forward to the future with optimism and enthusiasm, they express sincere appreciation to the community for their continued support and encouragement.
