Father Ted theme quiz fundraiser in Clarke's next weekend

Mullingar 4 All and Longford Westmeath IPSC have announced they are following the success of their first fundraiser, a Gig for Gaza, which raised €4,200 for UNRWA, with another fundraiser in Clarke’s Bar Mullingar.

The Charity Father Ted Quiz is on April 27 at 7.30pm, Father Damo actor, Joe Rooney, will be present. The event is in support of Samia Alatrash, a Palestinian journalist who wants to evacuate her and her family to Egypt for safety.

A table of four is €20 and single entry is €5. Tickets are available on buymeacoffee.com.

Samia’s photo went viral when she was captured hugging the dead body of her niece in a body bag. She has lost two of her nieces in the war in Gaza. A gofundme has already been set up for the Alatrash family and Mullingar 4 All and Longford Westmeath IPSC hope to add funds to it.

The Father Ted Quiz is interactive, improvised comedy show with a mixture of stand-up, Father Ted trivia questions and live challenges.

There will be a visual round, an audio round and three rounds of trivia punctuated by a Lovely Girls Competition, a Dancing Priests Competition and a few songs, including, of course, a rendition of My Lovely Horse.

A table of four is €20 and single entry is €5. Tickets are available on buymeacoffee.com.

Christine O’Mahony, chairperson of both groups, said: "We are so thankful for all the support from the people of Mullingar so far. Joe Rooney not only is a famous actor, but he is a big supporter of Palestine and constantly posts about it, so we are delighted that he offered to put on this quiz in aid of the Palestinian cause. We are also thankful for Clarke’s bar for offering their space again, they are very generous. In the words of Mrs Doyle, go on, go on, go on, get your tickets and support this great cause."
