The Mullingar Chamber Garda Cup Golf Classic returns

The Mullingar Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the return of its annual golfing event the Mullingar Chamber Garda Cup Classic, which takes place at Mullingar Golf Club on Friday May 24. The event kicks off the Chamber's events calendar for this year with lots of exciting things planned for 2024.

Last year's golf classic was a great success where Smiddy’s Bar emerged as the triumphant team in a tournament that showcased exceptional golfing skills with a great spirit of camaraderie among participating teams.

“It was a great day out last year, well done to the Chamber for putting on such a great event again for 2024. The Smiddy’s team will play again this year and we are very much looking forward to it,” Said Kieran Smith, owner of Smiddy’s bar.

The event has been held for over 30 years and marks the continued close working relationship Mullingar Chamber enjoys with An Garda Síochána .

In addition to prizes on the day, the winning team will go forward to play at the K Club in October at the Chambers All Ireland Golf Classic.

John Geoghegan says that the Chamber is looking forwarrd to hosting another successful tournament again this year.

"This is an outstanding annual event and this year we look forward to continuing with the scramble format and a shotgun start at 2pm meaning attendees can work the morning if needed and enjoy the golf and craic in the afternoon. The meal will be served at 8pm, with all done by 9pm that evening. Smiddy's Bar defends the title this year and hopefully we will have a full timesheet on the day. Many thanks to our outgoing sponsors of many years, Blackhall Financial Services and Stephens Cooke for their support over the years. Also, many thanks to An Garda Síochána for continuing their attendance at the event and Mullingar Golf Club for looking after the golf and meal arrangements”

Entry fee for a team (4 persons) is €400, which includes a two-course meal following play served in the clubhouse restaurant. Tee sponsorship is also available at €100 per tee. All winners at the event will be presented their awards and prizes by Chamber president Allyson English that evening.

The Chamber is looking forward to getting out on the course for some social networking and golf on the stunning parkland course in what promises to be a great day out.
