Claudia Boyle returns with Mullingar Choral Society

Mullingar Choral Society perform their Summer Concert, ‘May we Sing’, on Sunday next, May 5, in St Paul’s Church at 7.30pm. Many of those who attended last year’s concert were so taken by the performance of guest soloist, Claudia Boyle, that there were many requests for her to be invited back again.

A spokesperson for Mullingar Choral Society said: “We are delighted to announce that Claudia will indeed perform for us again at this year’s concert, and for those who missed her last year, here is your chance to see for yourselves what so many were talking about.

“It was not just her fabulous singing that endeared her to our audience, but also her vibrant and humorous personality.”

This year’s concerts includes the beautiful Cherubini Requiem in C minor, a work that offers a serious challenge to the choir, “one which we believe they have risen to and the fruits of their many hours of rehearsal will be evident for all to see on Sunday evening”.

In addition, the choir will perform well-known pieces, one or two of which they performed at the Fleadh Cheoil in the recent past.

Claudia’s choices include works by Handel, Mozart, Dvorak, all of which will be delivered in her own inimitable way.

Musical director Fintan Farrelly will be conductor on the night, and he has assembled a talented chamber orchestra to provide the musical accompaniment.

As we await the arrival of summer and the prospect of some fine weather, have your spirits lifted by attending this much anticipated concert on Sunday May 5. Tickets are available online from Eventbrite, from any member of the choir or at the door on the night.
