The late Paddy Dunican, RIP.

Paddy4Pieta: ‘a walk to remember our friend Paddy Dunican’

A group of people who are mourning the loss of their friend, Paddy Dunican, are inviting others to join them and remember him at the Kilbeggan Darkness into Light walk on Saturday.

Paddy died by suicide on 6 April. His friends say on a website dedicated to the event: “We miss him, we love him, we won’t forget him. Come walk with us this Saturday 11 May at 4.30am for the Paddy4Pieta.org, Darkness Into Light walk.

“Paddy was a warm, giving, optimistic person and he summed up the word ‘gentleman’. He had such a positive impact on all of our lives and that’s what makes this unexplainable.

“It has shown us how fragile life is and the importance of small acts of kindness in our daily lives.

“On Saturday 11 May, we will walk up Kilbeggan main street and stop outside Paddy’s front door to reflect, the same door Paddy left on Saturday April 6, five weeks earlier, for the last time.

“We will be walking with the Kilbeggan Shamrocks GAA Pieta Darkness into Light walk.”

Walkers will meet at St James’s Hall, Kilbeggan at 4.30am to start the walk (approx. 3.5km) at 4.45am.

One hundred percent of donations will go directly to Pieta House.

“Our walk is dedicated to our friend Paddy Dunican and all those who have lost their lives to suicide and everyone who grieves their passing.

“Join us in Kilbeggan for our Darkness into Light Walk, or you can do your own virtual walk, wherever you are located across the world.”
