Westmeath refugee featured on Nationwide tonight

A Ukrainian refugee living in Mullingar is to feature on an episode of Nationwide on RTÉ One at 7pm today.

The episode will follow Obi Ojimadu’s journey to Ireland and how his love for sports has helped him create connections in his new community.

Obi currently coaches youth teams with Mullingar Athletic and has past experience coaching with leading Ukrainian side Shaktar Donetsk.

Originally from Nigeria, he arrived in the town almost two years ago and has been highly involved in efforts to restore a block in Columb Barracks for use as a refugee hub.
