James Joyce’s Mullingar
James Joyce’s Mullingar literary and history tours on Bloomsday, Sunday June 16, at noon, 3pm and 7pm, from the Greville Arms Hotel. The guide is Ruth Illingworth and the cost is €5 for adults (children free.
In 1900 and 1901, the novelist James Joyce spent a number of weeks in Mullingar while his father was doing work for the county council. Mullingar features in his novels Stephen Hero and Ulysses.
The tours will follow in the footsteps of Joyce and explore what Mullingar was like when he lived here and visit some of the places mentioned in his writings.
