Employees from Gas Networks Ireland worked with the Tidy Towns committee in Rochfortbridge on a litter-pick and on an updated wheelchair accessibility map, as part of the firm’s commitment to promoting sustainability.
The collaboration follows the appointment of Gas Networks Ireland as one of 20 new Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Champions in Ireland by Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan, TD, on June 26.
As SDG champion, employees from Gas Networks Ireland recently volunteered to lead a community engagement blitz in Drum, County Roscommon and in Rochfortbridge. The project involves community support activities alongside operational and pipeline work planned for later this year in Drum and Rochfortbridge, and is an example of the company’s commitment to sustainable development, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
In Rochfortbridge, the employees from the national also helped identify 15 additional locations to be included in an updated Rochfortbridge wheelchair accessibility map.
In Roscommon, the delivered Junior Achievement Ireland’s Energize programme, which aims to inspire students to continue with STEAM subjects at a post-primary level to 110 students at Summerhill National School (St Joseph’s) in Drum.
