International Women's Day celebration and graduation
Women’s Community Projects Mullingar (WCP Mullingar) are hosting an event on Friday, March 7, as a joint celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) and the graduation of students.
IWD has a long and powerful history of collective action, and since 1911 it has provided an important opportunity for groups worldwide advocating for gender equality. IWD isn’t specific to any particular group, organisation or country – it is a day of collective global activism and celebration that belongs to all those committed to forging gender equality worldwide.
Women’s Community Projects Mullingar and Women’s Collective Ireland Mullingar host an event each year to promote the day, celebrate achievements, advancements, successes and provide an avenue for supporters locally to get involved.
They also aim to build on the history, continued advanced of women’s equality and raise awareness on the topic, key commitments and relevant issues.
IWD is an inclusive, diverse movement and all activities contribute, no matter how small have an impact on the collective impact worldwide. At the current rate of progress, it will take another take another five generations to reach full gender parity, according to the World Economic Forum. Hence, the campaign theme for IWD 2025 is ‘Accelerate Action’.
A number of inspiring key speakers are lined up for the Mullingar event on Friday, focusing on women and enterprise, barriers, resourcefulness, education and learner experience.
Also, a total of 67 learners will be presented with certificates on the day, from a range of QQI modules including 20 Major Awards in Healthcare.
Refreshments and finger food will be available for guests from 1pm, and local people are invited to join a morning of celebration, enjoyment and information from 11am. The event if free, but places must be booked: 044 93 44301; adult.ed@wcpmullingar.ie.
