Ten weapons seized by Revenue officers in midlands
Ninja swords, a sword umbrella, switchblades, fireworks, Kukri and smoke bombs were among items seized by Revenue officers in the midlands in the last week.
Various operations also saw the seizure of contraband with an estimated value of €355,000 in Dublin, the Midlands, Rosslare Europort and Tipperary.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
over 5.4kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €108,600,
over 5,200 mixed tablets, with an estimated value of almost €10,300,
cash to the value of €42,750, and
561 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of €178,000.
The herbal cannabis and mixed tablets, together with various other illicit drugs with a value of €1,350, were discovered, with the assistance of detector dogs Ciara and Enzo, whilst Revenue officers were examining parcels at premises in Dublin and the Midlands.
The parcels originated from France, India, the Netherlands and the UK, and were destined for addresses nationwide.
