BMB Active members enjoy wonder of working willow
Alzheimer Tea Day
On Thursday, May 1, a well attended Alzheimer Tea Day social took place at Multyfarnham Community Centre. Funds were raised by the sale of cakes donated by BMB Active members and friends, raffle prizes, and donations.
It was wonderful to see two large tables occupied by support workers and attendees of the local Day Service in the Friary. The Multyfarnham Men’s Shed provided background music as people chatted and socialised. BMB Active chairman Joe Scally thank everyone who supported the event.
On Friday, BMB Active welcomed Helena Golden, Willow Woman from Leitrim, to Multyfarnham Community Centre, to give a workshop on the craft of weaving with willow.
As it happened, RTÉ Radio were discussing Leitrim attractions on the Oliver Callan Show that morning as people were preparing to attend, and Helena was driving to give this workshop. Apparently, more Irish people have visited Asia than have been to Leitrim. Helena is contributing to changing that and is highly recommended for workshops in your area.
