North Westmeath Hospice Sunflower Days return on June 6 and 7
The Hospice Sunflower Days will be returning to North Westmeath Hospice for its 35-year anniversary, on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7.
There will be different events throughout the two days, with on-street donation collections taking place across the two days, although donations are accepted online throughout the month of June.
The aim of the Sunflower Days is to raise much-needed funds for local hospices, and each euro raised over the two days will go straight to North Westmeath Hospice.
The funds raised play a vital role in supporting the delivery of specialist palliative care in communities across Ireland.
Hospice and specialist palliative homecare services provide care and support to those living with a life-limiting illness, whilst also helping to support the patient’s family members.
The funds raised will be used to upgrade the hospice suites in Mullingar Regional Hospital and to support the specialist local homecare services.
Teresa Collentine, of North Westmeath Hospice, said: “We rely so much on the public’s support, which allows us to continue to provide our vital services. We are calling on everyone from North Westmeath to donate what they can, either on-street or online this June, as every euro raised makes a big difference at a local level.”
Hospice Sunflower Days Ambassador, Miriam O’Callaghan, commented, “The Hospice Sunflower Days campaign is one I am delighted to support as I have seen firsthand the fantastic work and care that hospices and homecare services provide to patients and families across the country.
With hospices needing to raise approximately €20 million each year to continue to provide their specialist care, it is so important for the public to show their support by donating on-street or online during this year’s campaign.”
Those who wish to donate can do so during the on-street collection days or online by visiting www.sunflowerdays.ie.
