Robert Troy calls for increased Garda presence in Westmeath
Fianna Fáil TD, Robert Troy has called for further Garda resources in Rochfortbridge and throughout the county of Westmeath.
In a letter to the Superintendent, Minister Troy expressed his concerns over the lack of Garda resources in the village.
Highlighting issues such as the increased population of the village and that the current Garda presence is currently not sufficient to meet the demand and needs of the community.
Robert Troy said: "Increased Garda presence would greatly enhance public safety, improve response times, and allow for more visibility throughout the village.
"In order for the public across the county of Westmeath to feel safe in their communities, we must ensure we have boots on the ground. This will enable the Gardaí to move fast to any incidents that may occur and need to be dealt with rapidly. This will restore public confidence and safety. This is the number one goal.”
Minister Troy said public confidence in our Garda is pivotal and we can achieve that by way of visibility throughout the county of Westmeath.
He added: "The lack of Garda vehicles is another issue that is being seen more broadly throughout the county. I will provide this information to the Deputy Commissioner throughout our future engagement.”
