Clean-up operation near Tyrrellspass completed
Westmeath Fire Service have completed a clean-up operation after a number of tanks fell from a lorry at the M6 roundabout near Tyrrellspass today.
Crews from Kilbeggan Fire Station attended, and conducted the clean-up in cooperation with the company transporting the tanks.
The tanks, believed to number eight, contained cooling water for industrial drills – post the cooling process.
The material was treated, as per Westmeath Fire Service protocol, as potentially hazardous waste, and was removed from the scene.
The crews ensured drains were blocked to protect local water courses, and watered down the area.
The operation concluded at around 3pm.
